Sovereign Hill General Admission

Sovereign Hill is a living museum that tells the story of Ballarat during the gold rush era. Gold was discovered here in 1851, sparking one of the world's largest alluvial gold rushes. Ballarat rapidly transformed from a quiet pastoral town into a beautiful provincial city built on its golden wealth.

The Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum spans 15 hectares on a former gold mining site, vividly recreating the gold rush through a bustling township. With over 18 scheduled activities throughout the day, you'll find yourself panning for gold, witnessing musket firings, and observing traditional demonstrations of boiled sweets, wheelwrighting, and candle-making.
